The finished sabre for my upcoming Zero cosplay which will debut at London MCM Expo May 2011!
The process: The blade was laser cut from clear acrylic, I got a picture of Zero's sabre and went over the outline in Photoshop which I then sent to a company to be cut. The handle I made mainly from plastic tubing wrapped in electrical tape. The top of the handle was been made from plastic which I cut, glued and spray painted gold. The LED lights are wrapped around the base of the acrylic blade which is concealed inside the handle where the battery pack is stored. The base of the sword is removable so the lights can be switched on and the batteries can be replaced.

They're battery powered LED lights wrapped around the bottom of the laser cut acrylic blade, it's like an inner handle so the tubing can slide onto it. The tubing covers the battery pack and the end can be removed so the battery can be changed
Not bad, not bad! I wonder if frosting the blade might help refract the light along it's surface. I did something like that with my lightsaber blade. I sanded the outside very lightly.
Frosting the blade huh? That is such a good idea! Yeah, the light is a bit of an issue but I think sanding/frosting will really help. Thanks for the tip!
Nice beam sabre. I like your use of LED lights at the end. I wonder if it's possible or better to also paint the blade itself with some translucent and glossy glass paint-- to give a more teal-colored luster.
